Overview

CultureLifestyle

In Japan, Valentine’s Day is slightly different. Women giving chocolates as a Valentine’s Day gift became popular in the 1950s. In 1978, White Day was created by a small confectionery shop in the Hakata region of Japan so that men could buy women gifts in return. The marketing campaigns made sure that men were obliged to spend more than the value of what they received!
